Hello everyone,
My problem was fixed. I was getting download speeds of 0.0 to 54 kbps.
Finally I got hold of an intelligent Verizon Tech Support agent. My
modem was unsecured, and therefore everybody and anybody within the
right distance was jumping onto my modem. As soon as the VTS agent
secured my modem, my download speed went from 54 kbps to 634 kbps
instantly. I now have no problems with my newsgroups, or internet. I
now am getting speeds above my 768 kbps limit!!!

Why did it happen starting around January 1st? The way I figure it,
alot of people in my neighborhood got new PCs and Laptops for
Christmas, and they started using my modem.

A good site to go to when you want to check your speed, was given to
me by the VTS agent......
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

It's a great spped test site, with your choice of the closest server
to your city.

Take care, and good luck everyone,

I wish that was my problem. I have wireless turned off.

More then likely it's the server. Are you trying to download at peak times?
I've found that around 9:00 local time, the servers run at lightning speed.
