I just received this e-mail that was stopped by my firewall.
Never ever install an update from Microsoft sent via e-mail.
All Microsoft updates for Windows XP are done through the Windows
Update site.
Just don't want to see new users getting their system smashed.

Anyone stupid enough to fall for something like this has no business having
a computer and deserves to have it trashed.

I have dreams about a hijacker who rerouted Microsoft autoupdate site..
That's an interesting comment, and something I've tried to discuss with
several knowledgeable people at MS and several non MS newsgroups. Other
than an "it can't happen" attitude I haven't yet found enough
explanation to satisfy my curiousity. I do have to admit I've never
seen and have never heard of, it happening. NOT that I mean to encourage
anyone to try it; just thinking out loud.

A simple DNS Cache Poisoning would allow redirection to a malware site.
Or a router crack changing DNS server values.

After that it would be cloning the handshaking for autoupdate to
accept the payload. :(

Some logic there, but if it's that "simple" then it should have happened
by now; and hasn't. There's something more to it. Interesting,
nonetheless.
But I'll leave it for the experts since it works and apparently works
very well, however they control it.

You sir are an idiot and are completely ignorant of the public, learning
curves, lack of awareness education and people in general. Your
ignorance is only outdone by your ignorances. I have NEVER fallen for
such a thing, but I know several who have, why they did it, and unlike
you, I personally prefer to assist and educate rather than pray to have
everyone less educated than myself shut up.

Anyone stupid enough to make a statement such as you have has no
business having a computer and deserves to have it trashed.

When one has nothing to say, that's exactly what they should say.
